Alberta Hilliard

Alberta Hilliard, age 100, went home to be with the Lord on November 7, 2014 at the Copley Health Center.

She was born in Huntsville, Alabama on October 28, 1914 to the late Mollie and Mitchell Nance. She was preceded in death by her four sister, Vera Clemmons, Velma Walker, Jenny Dandridge, and Eleanor Lynn; and three brothers, John Nance, Robert Nance, and Willie Nance. Alberta has one surviving brother, Walter Nance, who lives in California.

Alberta was the devoted wife of Thomas Hilliard (deceased), and to the union was born four children, Betty Baylor, Shirley Caffee, Thomas Hilliard Jr. (Lynnette), and Barbara Atchison (deceased). Alberta had 10 grandchildren, Gregory (Ginger) Baylor, Sonya Caffee, William (Sonya) Caffee, Jerome Hilliard, Michelle Pope, Debbie (Johnny Ray) Roberts, Kim Hilliard, Lisa Hilliard, Erica (Tyree) Brown, and Tony Atchison (deceased). She also had many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and great-great-great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.

Alberta was loving, caring, and kind, always helping others. She will always be remembered by her excellent cooking skills and her love of fishing with her sisters, shopping for bargains, and most of all, her love of spending time with her family and friends.

Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, November 14, 2014 at Stewart & Calhoun Funeral Home, 529 W. Thornton St., Akron, OH 44307, where Elder Henry Brunson will be officiating. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until time of service. Interment will be at Mount Peace Cemetery. Procession will form at 1168 Yukon Ave., Akron, OH 44320 and condolences may be sent to 682 Euclid Ave., Akron, OH 44307.
