Obituary for Norman A. Hatter

Norman Andrew Hatter, age 83, of Mentor-on-the-Lake, passed away Friday, Oct. 17, 2014, at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland. He was born Jan. 22, 1931, in Cincinnati, and was a resident of Lake County for 56 years residing in Mentor-on-the-Lake. Norman was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was former Post Commander of V.F.W. Post 4441 of Mentor-on-the-Lake, served as Last Commander. He was a current member of V.F.W. Post 9295 of Mentor, member of the Military Order of Cooties #92, member of the Willoughby Masonic Lodge 302, member of the Caliph Grotto, one of the original Clown Unit, member of the Royal Arch Willoughby Chapter 231, member of the Royal and Select Masons Painesville Council 104, and member of Willoughby United Methodist Church. He retired from Addressograph Mulitgraph Company as a machinist with 31 years of service. He also worked as an aide at the Manor Care Nursing Facility in Willoughby, and also at E.G.C. Enterprises in Chardon. He was the beloved husband of 58 years to Carol A. (nee: Marvin) Hatter; loving father of Norman James (Kathi) Hatter of Mentor, Andrew William (Elaine) Hatter of Sierra Vista, Arizona; cherished grandfather of Meridith Hatter; and brother of John L. Hatter. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Leona (nee Johnson) Hatter; brothers, Donald V. Hatter and Ronald M. Hatter; and sister, Ramona Lawrence.  Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.   Funeral Service at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Rev. Don Perks of Willoughby United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be private at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens, Chesterland.
