Obituary for Johanna L Ryant
Johanna L. (Cannato) Ryant, age 91, of Mentor, passed away Sept. 26, 2014, at the David Simpson Hospice House in Cleveland.
She was born Dec. 22, 1922, in Cleveland.
Mrs. Ryant was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Mentor, the Lake County Herb Society, Rescue Village in Russell Twp. and the Mentor Senior Center Italian American club. She had been a Girl Scout Leader, was a fabulous cook and loved animals.
Survivors include her daughters, Cindy Karmitzski, Janice (Stephen) Fliegel, Genie (Brad) Clemmer and Mary (Tim) Hurley; grandchildren, Donna (Kevin) McDonnell, Dan (Denise) Brastine, Justin (Melissa) Fliegel, Jessica (Grant) Gordon, Aaron Clemmer, Claire (Rob) Melchiorre and Evan Hurley; great-grandchildren, Amy and Jill McDonnell, Summer Brastine, Allison and Ethan Fliegel, Ella and Eric Gordon and Luca Melchiorre.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Ryant; brothers, William and Frank Cannato; parents, Philip and Eugenia Cannato; and son-in-law, John Karmitzski.
Funeral mass will be held 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 8560 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060.
Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m., Monday, at Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Mentor, OH. Entombment will be in Western Reserve Memorial Gardens, Chesterland.
