“Together Again”

AUSTINTOWN - There will be funeral services Friday at 10 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, for John P. Polish, 88, who died Tuesday afternoon at home, surrounded by his family.

John was born Sept. 14, 1925, in Ronco, Pa., to Joseph and Mary (Scaglione) Polish.

He was a 1944 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School, where he was a member of the National Honors Society. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army. John worked in fabrication at Youngstown Steel Door for 35 years, until his retirement in 1983.

He enjoyed singing and writing country music and played in many bands throughout the years. John loved spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren play sports. He was also an avid sports fan.

John’s wife, the former Eileen Sweeney, whom he married Feb. 18, 1950, died Nov. 7, 2009.

He is survived by two daughters, Barbara (Steve) Rubosky of Canfield, and Debra (Richard) Hott of Austintown; two sons, John J. (Janie) Polish of North Jackson and James M. (Debbie) Polish of Austintown; three sisters, Rose (William) Angelo of Austintown, Jean Pochiro of Austintown and Helen Letscher of New Kensington, Pa.; a brother, James (Delores) Polish of Austintown; a sister-in-law, Betty Lou Polish of Youngstown; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Louis Polish, and a great-granddaughter, Abigail Polish.

Family and friends may call today from 5 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
