“Together Again”

AUSTINTOWN - Lillian M. Nagy, 77, passed away peacefully early Saturday evening, Aug. 23, 2014, at her home with her family by her side, after a lengthy illness.

Lillian was born Jan. 13, 1937, in West Deer Township, Pa., a daughter of the late Adam and Jessie Harris Smulick.

Lill was a 1955 graduate of West Deer High School and moved from Cheswick, Pa., to Austintown with her family in 1965.

She was a homemaker who dedicated her adult life to raising and caring for her family. In 1971 she became a licensed cosmetologist and operated her own beauty salon until her retirement in 1996.

Mrs. Nagy was a member of St. Joseph Church in Austintown. She enjoyed traveling, playing games with her grandchildren and family Sunday dinners at her home. She adored and welcomed all children into her loving home and was known to all as “Grandma Nagy,” including her 35 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-granddaughter.

Lillian leaves seven children, Joseph L. Jr. (Lisa) Nagy of Canfield, John C. Sr. (Debbie) Nagy of Chicago, Diana (Jim) Diaz of Parrish, Fla., Debbie (Gary) Scurti of Austintown, Linda Loth of Austintown, Michael of Tampa, Fla., and William E. (Colleen) of Columbiana; 17 grandchildren, Heather (Brian), Jason, Anthony, Nicole, Michael, Kimberly, Sara, John Jr. (Sarah), Ashley, Matthew, Samantha, Cortney, Joseph III, Alysia, Salena, Kevin and Ella; 17 great-grandchildren, Kayley, Marissa, Brian Jr., Justin Jr., Ally, Leah, Steven III, Jason Jr., Andrea, Jameir, Mason, Cameron, Aiden, Gavin, Emma, Nathaniel and Hannah; a great-great-granddaughter, Amelia Rose; two sisters, Rose Marie (Paul) Sutara of Canton and Donna (Larry) Lucas of Austintown; many nieces and nephews; and lifelong friends, Mike and Ann Potocnak and Jean Tunison.

Lill was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Joseph L. Nagy Sr., whom she married March 10, 1956; and a great-grandson, Gabriel.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m on Tuesday, Aug. 26, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road in Youngstown.

Funeral services will begin at 9:15 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home, and continue at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church on New Road in Austintown.

Committal services will follow at Green Haven Memorial Gardens, where Lillian will be laid to rest next to her husband.
