Obituary for LARRY FRANCIS DAVENPORT
Larry F. Davenport, 68, entered into eternal life on Wednesday August 13, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Monday, August 18, 2014 at Grandview Park Funeral Home. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 3-6 pm at the funeral home.
Larry was born in Des Moines to Francis E. and Betty (Heppner) Davenport. He married Nora on August 11, 1979 in Des Moines. Larry was a proud union trucker for Consolidated Freightways & ABF and was a union member of Local 238 and the Teamster Retirees. Larry was also a veteran of the U.S. Army. He liked to work on bicycles and give them away to children who needed them. He loved motorcycles and was a Boy scout leader for many years.
Larry is survived by his wife, Nora; his children, Adam, Starlene Davenport (Tim), Londa (Larry) Thomas, and Robert Lehman; two grandchildren, Phillip and Amber; two sisters, Pam (John) Muggli and Sandra (Larry) Mooers; a brother, Richard (Judy) Davenport; and several nieces and nephews. Larry was preceded in death by his mother, Betty; step-father, Richard; and his sister, Rosemary. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to his church, Walnut Creek Community, or to the family.
