Obituary for Walter Jackson
Walter Jackson Jr., 82, entered into the Kingdom of Heaven on May 24, 2014, nestled in the arms of Jesus.
Mr. Jackson devoted 23 years of his life serving his country in the USAF and retired as a distinguished Master Sergeant. He then became the first African-American Director of Human Resources for a Fortune 500 company, Gould-Ocean Systems Division and holds a degree from John Carroll University.
Beloved husband of Donna (nee Stuart), loving father of Jacqueline Hutchinson, Michele E. McCoy (Vick), Walter III (Floria) and Dad to Laura Landers-Douglas. He is also survived by his brothers William and W. David Jackson; grandchildren; Walter IV, Stephen, Joshua, Nathan Jackson, JaRel, JaNekka, JaMal Hutchinson, Stephen Landers and several great-grandchildren. He also has numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents Walter Jackson, Sr. and Anna (Vann) Goodwyn; siblings, Dorothy Smith, Marion Dudley, Robert L. "Dino," Eddie Jackson and Mary K. Laster.
Family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 on Thursday, May 29, 2014, at the funeral home. Service is Friday, May 30, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home, where family will receive friends at 12:30. Rev. James F. Davis officiating.
