Obituary for Kimon G Kipper

Kimon G. Kipper, age 92, of Akron, passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2014.

Born February 12, 1922 in Greece, he was the son of George and Katherine Kipper. Mr. Kipper was the owner/operator of Western Fruit Basket for 30 years. He was a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church where he served as past president of the church board as well as the past president of the Pancretan Association; he was a member of the Men''s Club, AHEPA, as well as the Men''s Club Golf League. Many of the popular recipes served during the Greek Festival were Kimon''s. He was a World War II Veteran of the Merchant Marines and the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include his wife, Lee A. (Manos) with whom he shared 42 wonderful and loving years of marriage; daughter, Katherine; grandchildren, Christine and Andrew; extensive family in Greece including his brother, John; numerous Godchildren and others whose lives were greatly impacted by Kimon. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Marcia Poulos and his sisters, Sophia and Anna.

Friends will be received on Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., Akron, where a Trisagion service will take place at 6 p.m. Service will be held on Monday, March 24, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 129 S. Union St., Akron.
