Obituary for Donald B Bean

AUSTINTOWN - Donald B. Bean, with his family by his side, went to the Lord in peace on Saturday, March 8, 2014, at the age of 84.

He was born in Linesville, Pa., on Jan. 26, 1930, to the late Burton and Laura Bean.

Don attended high school in Andover, Ohio, and he went on to serve in the Andover Volunteer Fire Department. On Oct. 1, 1949, he married the love of his life, Donna J. Bean, and spent the next 64 years with her.

In that time, they moved to Austintown, and Don worked for Ohio Edison for 43 years before retiring in 1992.

Don was a tinkerer and a doer that had many interests and hobbies. He enjoyed golfing, boating, and NASCAR. Don was an avid deer hunter and he also loved to woodwork. He was also a talented self-taught landscape painter, focusing on lighthouses and barns. Don enjoyed his trips to the casino and Mountaineer Resort, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family and his wife.

Left to mourn Don’s passing is his wife, Donna J. Bean; his children, Terry (Judy) Bean, Sherry (Darrell) Almasi and Roxanne (Tim) Wisler; his grandchildren, Gina, Rebekah, Shelley, Kari, Brian, Don and Jennifer; his six great-grandchildren; and a close friend of the family, Norb Presby.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, and his two brothers, Robert and Fred Bean.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Vibra Hospital for their outstanding care and support.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 11, at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, where a funeral service will follow at 11 a.m.

Interment will take place at Green Haven Memorial Gardens.
