The Life of MARTIN MICHAEL WATSON
Martin “Marty” Watson, 59, reunited with his parents, Sharon “Butch” and Clara Watson, on Monday, February 17, 2014. He was born February 25, 1954 in Des Moines and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1972.
Marty was a dental technician at Professional Dental Services for 26 years. He was a self taught bass player with a career span of over 45 years. Marty played with several bands and spent 30 years playing with the Last Shades of Dawn. The band was inducted into the Iowa Rock N Roll Hall of Fame in 2003.
Marty is survived by his companion of 7 years, Denise; children, Danielle and Michael; granddaughter, Bailee; step-children, Lindsey and Christopher; brother, Roger (Angela); uncle, Tom (Pat) Dawson; many nieces, nephews, cousins, beloved friends, and devoted fans.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines. A burial will occur at 1 p.m. Monday at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
