The Life of BESSIE MARIE KNORR
Bessie “Penny” M. Knorr, 83, was born in Iowa City, Iowa on June 3, 1930, the daughter of James and Agnes Rutledge. She passed away February 11, 2014, at the Hiawatha Care Center in Hiawatha, Iowa.
Bessie enjoyed cooking, flowers and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Saylor Township Fire Department Auxiliary Women’s Group.
Bessie is survived by her son, Gary (Linda) Knorr of North Liberty, IA and daughter, Linda Knorr of Las Vegas, NV; three grandchildren, Kari (Ryan) Lane, Tami (Pete) Diebel and Zach (Jacki) Knorr; five great-grandchildren; and aunt, Minnie Patrick; a host of other family and beloved friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean; many aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2014, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will greet friends Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
