The Life of SARAH BETH MAHAFFEY
Sarah B. Mahaffey, 49, passed away from cancer Sunday, February 2, 2014 at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines.
Sarah was born March 18, 1964 in Des Moines, Iowa to Lawrence and Jane (Mercer) Mahaffey. She was a strong, independent person with a great sense of humor. She loved her family and her niece, Maggie held a special place in her heart. Sarah was a very determined and goal-oriented person. Her work was very important to her. Sarah was an incredibly generous person and she loved going out with her family and friends. She enjoyed traveling and particularly appreciated Japan and the Oregon Coast. She liked being active - swimming, camping and fishing.
Sarah is survived by her parents, Jane and Lawrence; brother, John Mahaffey (Chris); sister, Sue Pace (Brad); niece, Maggie Pace; Sarah’s boyfriend, Dwayne Jones; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Services will be held at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2014. Funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday, February 6, 2014 with burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
