The Life of MARGARET LUCILLE SMITH
Margaret Smith, 92, died Sunday, January 5, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Memorial services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, January 10, at Iles-Westover Chapel. Inurnment of the cremated remains will be at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Margaret was born in Manilla, Iowa, and lived in the Des Moines/Urbandale area most of her adult life. She worked in food service at Urbandale Schools for 23 years retiring in 1981. Margaret was a member of Daughters of the Nile, Eastern Star and was a charter member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church. She enjoyed needle point, crocheting and camping.
Margaret is survived by her children, Judy Griffiths of Atlantic and Tom (Ruth) Smith of Grimes; grandchildren, Sherry (Robert) Hertko, Janice Lewis, Brett (Jessica) Smith, Steve (Rachel) Griffiths, Shane (Regan) Smith and Matt (Trisha) Smith; 17 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and her sister, Jeri Allen of Bradenton, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas L. Smith, her sister, Maxine Natzel, her brother, Vernon Natzel and her great-grandson Dalton Smith.
