The Life of ETHEL MILDRED TROESTER

Ethel M. Troester Born: June 24, 1914 Died: December 7, 2013 Ethel was born to Rosa and Albert Henderson in Garnet, Kansas, on June 24, 1914. She passed away on December 7, 2013 at the young age of 99! She grew up on a farm in Ellston, moved to Mason City after high school graduation, and lived in Des Moines for most of her life. She married Ervin Troester on June 24, 1933, he passed away in 1965. Ethel loved her two children, Duane and Karen, with all of her heart. Ethel loved life! She was an amazing pie and cookie baker and loved to cook for her family - "all my family" as she used to say! She had a gentle soul and dedicated her life to her family, church, and belief in God. She was a loan officer at Meredith Corporation Credit Union for 24 years before retiring in 1980. Years ago, she wrote her family history, which will be forever cherished. Ethel is survived by her two beloved children, several nieces and nephews, and her dog, Peaches. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and her brothers Claude, Clarence, Orville, and Willard. She was a devoted daughter to mother, Rosa. Her family will hold a celebration of her life on Wednesday, December 11, at First Federated Church, 48th & Franklin, in Franklin Hall. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m., with the service at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to the missions program at First Federated Church or the Animal Rescue League.
