The Life of GERALD EDWARD TAYLOR

Gerald Taylor, 75, passed away Saturday, January 26, 2013, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. The body has been cremated and private family services were held at Westover Chapel. G.T. was born in Minburn and lived in Des Moines most of his life. He worked at John Deere for 37 years as a laborer and U.A.W. Union Representative, retiring in 1994. G.T. also worked at Lutheran Social Service for a short time. In retirement he started his own construction/handyman business with his son, Jeff. He also constructed several houses in the Saylorville area. G.T. enjoyed horse racing and gaming in his spare time and carpentry projects with his sons. G.T. is survived by his wife of 34 years, Betty, his children, Jeff Taylor, Mark Taylor, Diane T. (Jeff Blanchard) Hoffman, Rene (Mark) Harrison and Deb (Ron) Carlson; grandchildren, Michelle, Abigail, Lily, Amy, Jessica, Angela and Erin; three great grandchildren, and his siblings, John Taylor and Wayne Taylor.
