The Life of NORMA JEAN FAHNESTOCK
Norma Jean (Currier) Fahnestock was born May 21, 1922 in Boone, Iowa, the daughter of Orlando and Mary (Killion) Currier. She had been a resident of the Des Moines area since 1930.
Norma married Robert Lyle Fahnestock on September 30, 1939 and together they raised two daughters. They enjoyed 68 years of marriage until Robert’s death on December 23, 2007.
She was also a member of Union Park Baptist Church. Norma passed away on Monday, November 4, 2013 while under hospice care at Bright Kavanagh House. She was 91 years old.
Norma will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Mary Lou Walker and husband Jerry of Des Moines and Ruth Ann Richards and husband David of Lakeside, CA. She will also be missed by four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, three great-great-granddaughters, three step-grandchildren, and five step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband Robert, Norma was preceded in death by her parents and great-grandson Dallas McKinney.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, November 8, 2013 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave, Des Moines with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment following the funeral will be at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that memorial contributions be directed to Union Park Baptist Church, 821 Arthur Ave, Des Moines, IA 50316.
