The Life of DOROTHY JEAN THOMPSON
Dorothy J. Thompson, 88, passed away Sunday, October 6, 2013, at Wayne County Hospital in Corydon. She was born June 13, 1925, to Raymond and Garneth Hill in Bussey, Iowa.
Dorothy retired from the State of Iowa after many years of service. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, crafts, going to the Four Mile Senior Center, and filling her house with family.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Kurt (Cathy) Thompson, Sally (William) Stanley, and Lou Ellen Thompson; son-in-law, Richard “Mac” McCarty; daughter-in-law, Fran Thompson; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leland “Buck,” and children, Jeanie McCarty and Raymond Thompson.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, October 19, 2013, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., on Friday, October 18, 2013, at the funeral home.
