The Life of LOUISE COOK BRASWELL

Louise C. "Tizzy" Braswell, 99, passed away on Sept. 23, 2013 at Westview Care Center in Indianola, IA, where she had lived since May of this year. A memorial graveside service will be 11:00am, Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013 at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Louise was born in Fort Worth, Texas, the daughter of Charles and Myrtis (McLaughlin) Cook. She had moved to MS and then to TN where she met her husband, Jim. Louise and Jim made their home in Des Moines. Jim worked for Firestone and in 1948, due to his job they were asked to move to Bombay, India. They eventually moved back to Des Moines until once again Firestone sent them to Japan. Their home was filled with treasures brought back from their many travels. Louise had worked as a secretary to Pastor C.T.R. Yates at Westminster Presbyterian Church and was a founding member of Questers Group. Louise and Jim had been members of Hyperion Field Club. She was a voracious reader and enjoyed antiquing, needlework, bowling, golfing, crossword puzzles and stamp collecting. She will be missed by her son, Jim (Jane) of Norwalk; grandsons, Zak of Des Moines and Austin (Lily) of Yonkers, NY and great grandson, Hudson James Braswell. She was preceded in death in by her husband of 64 years, Dr. James A. Braswell, Jr. in 2004 and by 2 sisters and a brother. Memorial donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Association, 2700 Westown Parkway #260, West Des Moines, 50266.
