The Life of Walter Travis Daniels

Opelousas- Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2013, in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel for Mr. Walter Travis Daniels. Rev. Perry Hubbs will officiate the service. Interment will follow in the Lafayette Memorial Park in Lafayette, LA. Mr. Daniels was a resident of Opelousas and passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2013, at the Acadia-St. Landry Hospital in Church Point at the age of 78. He was a Service Technician for many years. He was a U. S. Air Force Veteran who proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He served in the Air Force until his retirement. He was awarded the following commendations: AFGCM w/3 OLC (2Jun69-1Jun72), AFLSA w/4 OLC, NDSM w/1 BSS, AFOUA, AFM 900-3, AFCM w/1 OLC, SOG-477, and Hq MAC, Jul 1973. He was a life member of the Opelousas VFW Post 2483. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Opelousas. He was a Christian man who loved his family dearly. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends who loved him very much. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Patricia Daniels of Opelousas; four sons, Walter Daniels, Jr. of Navarre Beach, Florida; Patrick Daniels of Lafayette; Kevin Daniels of Lafayette; and Michael Daniels of Opelousas; eight brothers, 3 sisters, eight grandchildren: Eric Daniels, Christopher Daniels, Melynda O’Hara, Jason Daniels, Derek Daniels, Bryan Daniels, Alex Daniels, and Lydia Daniels; and two great-grandchildren, Kate Elizabeth Daniels and Declan O’Hara. He was preceded in death by parents, Robert and Laura Daniels. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas. On Wednesday, visitation will continue from 8:00 a.m. until 10:0 a.m. Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas is in charge of the arrangements.
