The Life of EARL JUNIOR GRAVES

Earl “Junior” Graves, 82, died Monday, July 1, 2013 at Mercy Medical Center. He was born October 20, 1930 to Earl and Nellie Graves. Earl served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean conflict from 1948-1952. On July 18, 1954, Earl married Ruth Crawley. He worked in receiving at Iowa Machinery and Supply for 20 years, owned North Star Tap for a short time and worked in maintenance for Plymouth Congregational Church. He was a member of Auburn Masonic Lodge #592, VFW Boline Manfredi, the American Legion in New Virginia, and was a life time member of Legion of the Purple Heart. Earl is survived by his children, Stephen Graves (Helen Rowley) of New Virginia, IA, Douglas (Lynn) Graves of Prescott, AZ, and Rebecca Crawford (Tom Ware) of Ankeny; grandchildren, Renee L. Graves (Robbie Muldoon) of Denver, Colorado, Laura F. (James) Hagen of Derby, IA, Angela M. Sharpnack of Ankeny, and Andrew G. Pebbles of Ankeny; great-grandsons, Emmett Hagen and Caden Sharpnack; siblings, Lou Gilliam of Torrance, CA, Pete (Dorothy) Graves of Phoenix, AZ, Vera Mills of Florida, and Sharon (Dennis) South of Leon, IA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth W. Graves in 2004; brothers, Jack Graves, Bill Graves and Dennis Graves; sisters, Katherine Cox and Betty Frost. A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 5, 2013, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Family will greet friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to DMARC Food Pantry in loving memory of Earl.
