The Life of Tillie Cherhoniak

Tillie Cherhoniak passed away on June 27, 2013 at the home of her niece, Mary Ella in Westbrook, CT surrounded by family. Tillie was born in Mayfield, PA to the late Peter and Mary (Dudick) Cherhoniak. She grew up in Seymour, CT and then moved to New York City after graduating from the Danbury Hospital Training School in 1946 to pursue her career as a Registered Nurse. Tillie worked at New York Hospital for more than 50 years, when some of that time she served as the Head nurse in the Emergency Room. Tillie also worked at the Metropolitan Museum of Art as a nurse for many years. Tillie is survived by a brother, Eugene Cherhoniak of Granite City, IL. She is predeceased by brothers, Walter, Joseph and Andrew and sisters, Ann Kiernan and Libby Krot. She is survived by 20 nieces and nephews, 25 grandnieces and grandnephews and 6 great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews. She also leaves behind many friends who will miss her greatly. Tillie loved crocheting, reading and spending time with family and friends and enjoying the excitement of New York City. The family would like to thank all the wonderful medical care she received through the New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical team over the years and to her close friends and neighbors for their kindness and support. Friends may call on Saturday, July 6, 2013 from 9 to 10:15 AM in the Three Saints Church . Followed by a funeral service at 10:30 AM. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
