The Life of DOUGLAS MATTHEW MCPHERSON Sr.
Douglas McPherson, 78, passed away March 19, 2013, at Bright Kavanagh House in Des Moines. He was born October 1, 1934, in Des Moines, son of William and Gertrude McPherson.
Doug was a lifelong resident of Des Moines, and wintered in Arizona for 17 years. He loved to travel and spend time with his family and friends.
Doug is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Marge; sons, Doug (Michelle) McPherson and Dwight McPherson; daughter, Sherry (Michael) Wolver; grandchildren, Heather, Holly, Taylor, Michael Jr., and Doug; great-grandchildren, Kinnick, Cooper, Caden, Tate, Blake, and Ryan; sisters, Jean Battles and Nancy Noble, as well as his brother, Warren McPherson. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Dorothy and Ann; and brothers, Earl, Billy and John.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, March 22, 2013, at All Saints Catholic Church, 650 NE 52nd Avenue in Des Moines, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, at the church, with a 7 p.m. prayer service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to HCI Care Services, The ALS Association-Iowa Chapter, or the Capital Campaign of All Saints Catholic Church in loving memory of Douglas.
