The Life of NORMA DARLENE DAVIS
Norma "Darlene" Davis 86, entered into Heaven on March 15, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday March 23, 2013 at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 3820 SW 9th St. in Des Moines with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time at the church.
Darlene was born August 26, 1926 in Des Moines. She attended Lincoln High School. On February 23, 1946 she married the love of her life, Richard Davis.
Darlene is survived by her daughter, Ladell (David) Lybarger; sons Rick (Laraine) Davis, Rodney (Linda) Davis and Daryl (Sue) Davis; nine grandchildren, Mark (Debbie) Hartzer, Melanie Hartzer, Cory Mitchell, Diane (Jeff) Allen, Raven Davis, Christa (Rob) Beller, Jeff (Maria) Davis, Matt (Kim) Davis, Jason (Allison) Davis and eleven great-grandchildren.
Darlene enjoyed traveling with family and friends and spending time at the South Side Senior Center. She was an avid doll collector and liked watching TV soaps and old time black and white movies. She loved to crochet and had won many awards at the Iowa State Fair. Darlene made afghans for every grandchild and great-grandchild when they were born. She will be deeply missed by family and friends.
Darlene was preceded in death by her husband; six sisters and two brothers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd.
