The Life of KATHLEEN SUE HATFIELD

Kathleen “Kathy” Hatfield passed away with her family by her side Friday, February 1, 2013, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. Kathy was born in Leon, Iowa, to Leonard and Karen Hamilton. She married Gene Hatfield on August 22, 1981. Kathy worked for Electric Pump/Quality Control in Des Moines for 25 years. She was a member of Union Park United Methodist Church. Kathy was Past Matron of East Gate Chapter #538, O.E.S., and Past Grand Ester 2010-2011. Kathy is survived by her husband of 31 years, Gene; daughters, Jean Ann (Rick) Reed, Jessica (Zane) Sweeney, and Tanya (Bruce) Smith; sons, Jamie and Matt Hatfield; grandchildren, Sherri and Brian Reed, Ashlyn and Corbin Sweeney, Caitlin, Danielle, Isaac, and Noah Smith, and John and Joe Hatfield; great-grandchildren, Hailie and Justin Reed; mother, Karen Hamilton; siblings, Kenneth (DeAnne) Hamilton and Russell (Theresa) Hamilton, brother-in-law Jerry (Kitty) Hatfield; and a host of other extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Leonard, and Granny Ruth. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at Union Park United Methodist Church, 2305 E. 12th Street, followed by burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or directed to the family.
