The Life of ELIAS RAMOS

Elias Ramos, 38, passed away Friday, February 1, 2013, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. Elias was born October 12, 1974, in Mexico. He graduated from high school in Haujuapan, Oaxaca, Mexico, and moved to Des Moines in 1994. Elias worked for Corell Contractors. He attended St. Pius X Catholic Church, and was a member of Laborers Union Local #353. Elias is survived by his sons, Cristian and Xavier Ramos; parents-in-law, Leo and Beverly Barry; sister-in-law, Michele (Bill) Gates; brother-in law, Matthew (Heather) Barry; mother, Catalina Ramos; brother, Raul (Mireya) Ramos Ramirez; nephew, Jacob Gates; nieces, Jaycie and Bella Hake, Julianna Gates, Mackenzie and Madigan Barry, and Xiadani Ramos; Jesus “Chuy” Lopez and family; and a host of other extended relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jodi Ramos, and his father, Raul Rameriz. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 3663 66th Street in Urbandale, followed by burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., with a Vigil Service at 6 p.m., Monday, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery, 121 NW 60th Avenue. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
