The Life of DORLA JONES SANSOM
Dorla J. Sansom , 85, Des Moines, Iowa passed away on September 3, 2012 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. Visitation will be held from noon to 2pm Friday, September 7th at Iles Funeral Home- Dunn's Chapel. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Dorla was born March 23rd, 1927 in Des Moines, Iowa to Lloyd and Bernadine Jones. She grew up in Des Moines and graduated from North High School. She married her long-time sweetheart, Roy H. Sansom, on July 23rd, 1947. She was the office manager for Mid-Iowa Ob/Gyn for forty years and served as President of Des Moines Medical Assistants. Dorla loved to travel and visited many countries including Greece, France, Germany, and her husband's home country of England. Dorla often patronized the theater, both in Des Moines and New York.
Dorla is survived by her daughter, Marcy Barrick, grandchildren, Courtney Quinn (John), Greenville, SC and Andrew Barrick (Amanda), Des Moines, and great-grand daughter Abbey Quinn. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be given to family to support the Des Moines Civic Center.
