The Life of FRANK JAMES GUSTAFSON

Frank Gustafson, 61, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. He was born July 29, 1950, in San Francisco, California, to Robert and Anita (Fischer) Gustafson. Frank grew up in Des Moines and graduated from Des Moines Tech High School. After graduation, he served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, earning a Purple Heart, Bronze Star and a Battlefield promotion. Following his honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy, Frank attended Drake University. Frank was united in marriage to Sheri Peek on June 15, 2002. He found joy in gardening and took great pride in his yard. Frank enjoyed movies, music and cars, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family. Frank is survived by his wife of 10 years, Sheri Gustafson; daughter, Linda (Antoine) Parker; son, Andy Peek; grandchildren, Dallas Moorhead, Rayahna Moorhead, Jasmine Parker and Alyssa Parker; his siblings, Anita Weston, Karl Gustafson and Mike Gustafson; mother-in-law, Evelyn Callen; brother-in-law, Bruce (Sandy) Callen; along with a niece, nephew, and loving friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Anita Sheley; step-father, James Sheley; father-in-law, Dale Callen and a brother-in-law, Craig Callen. Frank gave the gift of life by being an organ and tissue donor. He will be greatly missed and loved by all who knew him. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Friday, July 27, 2012, at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 914 NW Ash Drive in Ankeny, with burial following at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines. Memorial contributions may be made to Resurrection Lutheran Church or the Animal Rescue League in loving memory of Frank.
