The Life of Rodney A Naylor Sr.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2009, at a 10:00 AM Communion Service in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette, for Rodney A. Naylor, Sr., 67, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at his residence in Lafayette.Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park.Deacon James Davis will conduct the funeral services. Giftbearers will be Lynette Naylor Burnham and Elizabeth Naylor. Eulogist will be John J. Bardin. Jodi Bollich, organist and soloist, will sing "Happy Trails", "On Eagles'' Wings", "Be Not Afraid", "One Bread, One Body" and "Psalm 23" for the services. Survivors include his wife, Jacqueline Sevy Naylor; one daughter, Elizabeth "Libby" Naylor Waters and her husband Michael; two sons, Rodney Arthur Naylor, Jr. and Michael Allen Naylor; and two brothers, John Stacy Naylor and Lloyd Frederick Naylor.He was preceded in death by his mother, Marie Louise Vial Naylor of New Orleans; father, Arthur Stacy Naylor of Jennings; and two nephews, Arthur S. Naylor of Lafayette and Shawn Naylor of Alburquerque, NM. A native of New Orleans and a resident of Lafayette for 65 years, Rodney A. Naylor, Sr. was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Lafayette. He proudly served his country as a First Lieutenant of the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He retired from the Army Corps of Engineers and continued his own engineering firm, Naylor Engineering & Surveying. He was a member of the Harley Owners Group and a past member of the Krewe of Triton. Mr. Naylor will be greatly missed by family, friends and all who knew him.Pallbearers will be Rodney Naylor, Jr., Michael Naylor, Michael Waters, Thomas Fontenot, Paul Johnston, John Burnham and Tyler Burnham.Honorary Pallbearers will be John J. Burdin, Albert Resweber, John S. Naylor, Lloyd F. Naylor, Peret Gouchereau and Phil Brouillette.A Rosary will be prayed Friday, December 18, 2009 at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home. The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille''s Downtown location Friday from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Saturday from 8:00 AM until time of service.
