The Life of Albert Joseph Kinn

Albert Joseph Kinn was born the 2nd son of Transylvania immigrants, he helped the family as a young boy until the time of the Great Depression. He then entered the United States Marine Corps at the age of sixteen. After an honorable discharge, he trained to be an aviation mechanic and fixed-wing pilot. Al then joined Petroleum Helicopters, Inc. (PHI), as a mechanic and later received training to fly his favorite machines. Al was assigned by PHI to support oil and gas drilling in the jungles of Colombia, South America. It was during this tour there that he met his beloved wife of 52 years, Nelly Galindo. Nelly gave birth to their two daughters, Linda Marie and Peggy Ann, in Colombia before the family relocated to Lafayette, Louisiana in 1962 making it their home. Al worked for PHI for 35 years and retired in 1992 at the age of 62 as Base Commander of the Cameron, LA. facility. He enjoyed a long and happy retirement for 21 years. Al greatly loved his family, music, all animals and enjoyed being our favorite handyman. He is also cherished by his sons-in-law, Clay Morgan Allen and Scott Alexis Hawkins; and his grandchildren, Nina Blayke Allen, 15, Clayton Morgan Allen, 13, and Alexis Nicole Hawkins, 7; one sister, Eileen Graham; and one brother, Walter Kinn. Much love to a wonderful and special husband, father, and "Poppie". He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Maria Kinn; and one sister, Rita Miller. The family would like to give special thanks to MedSource Home Health and Heart of Hospice for their kindness and compassionate care given to Al and his family during their time of need.
