The Life of Lester Joseph Campeaux

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, November 15, 2006 at a 2:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Lester J. Campeaux, 86, who crossed over into the loving arms of the Lord on Thursday, November 9, 2006 at 10:30 AM in Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center.Entombment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum. Reverend Monsignor Glen John Provost, Pastor of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the Funeral Services. Jodi Bollich, organist, will sing for the services, "Ave Maria", "Amazing Grace", "Be Not Afraid", "On Eagle''s Wings" and "Taste and See". Survivors who cherish his memory are his wife of sixty years, Alfreida Barbier Campeaux of Lafayette; one daughter, Barbara C. Fain and her husband, Joe Fain; two sons, Carl C. Campeaux and his wife, Debi G. Sellers and Rodney J. Campeaux and his wife, Sandra M. Campeaux, all of Lafayette; five grandchildren, Corey, Katy and Julie Campeaux, Ricky and Brent Monteleon; four great grandchildren, Foster, Gian and Marco Monteleon, and Cameron Janise; his sister-in-law, Gladys Robertson of Metairie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ulysse and Emma Boudreaux Campeaux; two sisters, Hazel Thibodeaux and Beulah Ullrich; five brothers, Wilson, Henry, Sam, and George Campeaux and Vernon Boudreaux.A native of Assumption Parish and a resident of Lafayette for fifty two years, Lester was born on August 19, 1920. He served four years as a Technical Sergeant in the United States Army Air Corp, serving honorably in England, France and Belgium during WWII. In his earlier years, he was a volunteer firefighter in Lafayette and he also enjoyed the hobbies of woodworking and carpentry. Mr. Campeaux was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Community.Prior to his retirement, Mr. Campeaux worked for Property Insurance Association of Louisiana as a Senior Field Representative. He was employed for thirty three years and traveled extensively during his career.The family requests that visiting hours be observed Wednesday, November 15, 2006 from 9:00 AM until time of services.Pallbearers will be Wayne Robertson, Gary Percle, Brent Monteleon, Ricky Monteleon, Gerald Carrier and William J. Carrier. Honorary pallbearers are Joe Fain, Corey Campeaux and David Collins. Martin & Castille Funeral Home, Inc. of Lafayette has been chosen to help with the arrangements. 337-234-2311.
