The Life of MICHAEL LEE BEAUCHAMP

Michael “Mick” Beauchamp, 70, passed away on Friday, September 2, 2011, at his home. Funeral services for Mick will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, September 7, 2011, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home. Mick was born in Washington, Iowa on January 17, 1941, and he grew up on the family farm in Winfield, Iowa with his parents, Russell and Dorothy Beauchamp, and his brothers, Jim, Sam, Hal and Mark. In January 1961, he joined the U.S. Air Force. He was stationed at Offutt Air Force base in Omaha, NE, where he received awards as Outstanding Airmen three times. After leaving the Air Force, he and his family moved to Ankeny, Iowa where he owned a service station for five years and then entered the trucking business. Mick retired from Standard Forwarding at the age of 61 due to medical problems. Mick enjoyed hunting deer and pheasant, fishing and golfing with his three sons-in-law. Mick and Elaine also enjoyed competing in BBQ contests around the Midwest where he took 1st place in ribs at the 2009 World Pork Expo. Mick is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Elaine (Crawford) Beauchamp and his three daughters, Brenna (Terry) Young, Debra (Scott) Smith, and Sherry (Darren) Warth; five grandchildren, Whitney (Craig) Bellinghausen, Alex Smith, Kyle Smith, Haley Warth, and Maddie Young; and his little buddy, Bandit. Mick is also survived by his mother, Dorothy; and his brothers, Sam, Hal and Mark. He was preceded in death by his father, Russell; his brother, Jim; and his infant brother, Jackie. Memorial contributions may be made to the Greater Iowa Chapter -JDRF in loving memory of Mick.
