The Life of CHARLES WILLIAM GATHERCOLE

Services for Army Pvt. Charles W. Gathercole, 20, of 5326 NE Third St., who was killed in an auto accident last Friday in Missouri, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Hamilton''s Funeral Home.  Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Private Gathercole was en route home on leave when he was injured fatally in an accident on Interstate Highway 70 in Lafayette County, Missouri.

Born in Chariton, he had lived in Des Moines 12 years and was stationed at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO.  He was a 1965 graduate of Saydel High School.

Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Mr. & Mrs. Richard Ponx; his father, Howard Gathercole, and three sisters, Mrs. Phyllis Spragg, Mrs. Barbara Hall and Marylan Gathercole, all of Des Moines; three brothers, Thomas of Phoenix, AZ, and David and Larry of Des Moines, and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Merl Swim of Chariton.>>
