The Life of LILLIAN B SHAFFER

Lillian B. Shaffer, 64, of 3757 Indianpolis Ave., died of a heart ailment Wednesday at Mercy Hospital Medical Center.  Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hamilton''s near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home, and burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mrs. Shaffer, a retired secretary for the Iowa Dental Association, was born in Madrid and returned last year from Tennessee to Des Moines, where she lived most of her life.  She was a Korean War veteran of the Women''s Army Corps and a member of First Church of the Open Bible.

Surviving are her husband, Fred; three sons, Fred A. of Quantico, VA, Robert of Kansas CIty, MO, and Dennis of Colorado Springs, CO; a stepson, Allen of Des Moines; three step-daughters, Alice Huston and Debbie Schaffer, both of Des Moines, and Nitha Shaffer of Portland, OR; three brothers, Harvey Frey of Des Moines and Robert Frey and Edwin Frey, both of Madrid; four sisters, Helen Webb of Cumming and Evelyn Fulwood, Mildred Polich and June Noring, all of Madrid; 12 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Friends may call after 3 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 7 to 9 p.m.  Memorial contributions may be made to Debra Heights Wesleyan Church.
