Elvira Marshall Succumbs After Short Illness--Mrs.
Elvira B. Marshall, 85, a long-time resident of Altoona, died of a heart
ailment April 26 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. She entered the
hospital the day after returning from Arizona where she had spent the winter
and succumbed after three weeks of illness.

of Monroe and Mrs. Ora LeGrand of Los Angeles, Calif., a brother, Harrison
LeGrand of Monroe, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends who will
miss her friendly manner and warm acquaintanceship.

Mrs. Marshall was born August 25, 1871, on a farm
south of Monroe in Marion County. It was on this farm that she spent her
girlhood.
She was united in marriage October 10, 1894, with
George B. Marshall at the family home. They farmed in the vicinity of Monroe
until 1911 when they moved to their farm just north of Altoona.
Mrs. Marshall was a member of the Christian Church in
Altoona for many years and took an active part in all its affairs as well as
community affairs.
She had built a new home in Altoona last year and had lived in it only five weeks before going south for the winter. Despite her age she was alert and thoroughly enjoyed her active life.
