The Life of GRACE MARJORIE SMITH
Grace Marjorie Smith, 87, of Wesley Acres, 3520 Grand Ave., died Monday at the Madrid Home of complications of Alzheimer''s disease. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church. Cremation will follow, with burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith, who retired as a music teacher at Drake University, was born in Mount Union and returned to Des Moines in 1980 from Arkansas. She was a member of the Methodist Church, PEO Chapter GX, the Iowa and national music teachers associations and local music clubs, and she had been a church organist.
Among survivors are two daughters, Jody McCombs-Miller of Madrid and Jan Fackler of Johnston; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hamilton''s Near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to her church.
