The Life of PAUL JOHN GEBHARDT

Paul John Gebhardt, 71, of 309 NE Trilein Dr in Ankeny, died of a gunshot wound Thursday along a gravel road north of Ankeny.  Dr. R. C. Wooters, Polk County medical examiner, said the death was ruled a suicide.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Ankeny Funeral Home, with burial in Highland Memory Gardens.

Mr. Gebhardt was born in Des Moines and lived in Taylor County for 38 years and in Ankeny for two years.  He was a retired farmer and a member of the First Christian Church of Ankeny.

Survivors include his wife, Marceline; two sons, Norman of Des Moines and Larry of Bedford; one daughter, Diane Ponx of Des Moines; a brother, Max of Van Meter; a sister, Dorothy Harris of Reeds Spring, MO.; and five grandchildren.

Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
