The Life of FRANKIE SYLVESTER CROSS

Frankie Sylvester Cross, 67, of 4031 Eighth Place died of a heart ailment Thursday at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Cornerstone Community Church, of which he was a member. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Cross, a lifelong Des Moines resident, retired as a tuber operator after 40 years at Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. and was a purchasing agent at Sears the past four years. He had been a member of the United Rubber Workers union. Surviving are his wife, Norma Jean; four sons, Frankie Cross, Jr., Steve Cross, Paul Cross and Danny Robinson, his mother, Louiza Ann Cross, and two sisters, Betty Aller and Josephine Sparks, all of Des Moines; 24 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The family will visit with friends from 5 to 8 p.m. today and 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Hamilton''s Near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home, where friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. Memorial contributions may be made to his church.
