The Life of CLARENCE G YARN

Clarence G. Yarn, 84, of 1200 NE Sixty-sixth St. died of anteriosclerosis Thrusday at Iowa Lutheran Hospital. He had been ill two months. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, with burial in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Yarn and his wife donated the initial 10 acres of land for Camp Sunnyside, a camp for the physically handicapped north of Des Moines. Mr. Yarn, a lifelong resident of Polk County, was the owner and former operator of Woodside Golf Course. He was a member of Pioneer Club, Polk County Farm Bureau, Highland Park Business Men''s Club, Kiwanis Club, Iowa Golf Course Superintendents'' Association, Iowa Horticultural Society, Polk County Health Center and Union Park United Methodist Church. He also was active in Red Cross and Greater Des Moines United Way. Survivors include his widow, Thyra; a daughter, Mrs. Gertrude Hall of Des Moines; three sisters, Mrs. Marvin Nelson and Mrs. Helen Cunningham, both of Des Moines, and Mrs. Louise Erickson of Santa Monica, CA, and three grandchildren. The family suggests memorial contributions to Camp Sunnyside or Union Park United Methodist Church.
