The Life of JEAN MARIAN BARK
Jean Marian Bark, 90, of Des Moines, died Friday, December 1, 2006 at Kavanagh House on 56th Street. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, December 5, 2006 at Highland Park Presbyterian Church, 321 Euclid Ave. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Monday at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue. Jean was born June 22, 1916 in Bedford, Iowa to Walter and Sue Houck. She was a graduate of Bedford High School, and attended one year at AIB. Jean retired in 1975 from Iowa Savings and Loan, where she was the Association Secretary. Jean loved reading, traveling and being with her family. Jean is survived by her children, Lowell (Ruth) Bark of Ely, and Barbara (Bruce) Gaumer of Earlham; her grandchildren, Daryl (Annette) Bark, Laura (Bryan) Derby, Tracy Doza, David (Anita) Bark, and Trish (Cory) Toma-Lark; her brother, Allan Houck of Santee, SC; and many great-grandchildren. Jean was preceded in death by her husband Loren, her parents, two brothers and one sister. Memorial contributions may be made to Highland Park Presbyterian Church or Hospice of Central Iowa. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
