The Life of JOSEPH WILLARD HANES
Joseph W Hanes, 58, of 1100 50th St., West Des Moines, died of cancer Sunday at Mercy Hospital Medical Center. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Westover Funeral Home, with burial in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. Hanes was a lifelong Des Moines resident and a salesman for Crouse Cartage Co. He played sing-along piano at Johnnie''s Vets Club for 17 years and was a member of Glen Echo Christian Church and Acanthus Masonic Lodge 632. He was a Korean War veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Norma; three sons, Richard of Colorado Springs, Colo., Dennis of Waukee and Douglas of Aurora, Colo.; a daughter, Diane Montinguise, and his parents, John & Vera Hanes, all of Des Moines; a brother, Jerry of Aurora; and eight grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to his church or the American Cancer Society.
