The Life of ROBERT BRUCE CRAWFORD
Robert Bruce Crawford, 82, died on Friday, November 11, 2005 at Iowa Health Hospice Taylor House from complications of Alzheimer's. A graveside service will be held 1:00 pm Monday, November 14, 2005 at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 pm Sunday at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street.
Robert was born January 18, 1923 to Ivan and Helen Crawford in Melcher, Iowa. He served in the Army during World War II and worked as a supervisor for Western Electric Company for over 35 years. Robert was a member of the Men's Garden Club, American Legion, and the National Rifle Association. He spent the last 25 years wintering in Phoenix, Arizona and he enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing golf.
Robert is survived by his sons, Robert (Allison) Crawford of Iowa City and David (Julie) Crawford of Indianola; daughters, Carol (Mike) Askren of Polk City, Debra (Joe) Roney of Des Moines, and Diane (Ray) Smith of Runnells; 19 grandchildren; and sisters, Alberta Hartley of Melrose, Betty (Bill) Blaine of Ankeny, Dee Brandt of Lakeland, FL, and Joan (Verlin) Hall of Fort Dodge.
