The Life of MILDRED OLIVE WHEELER

Mildred O. Wheeler, 67, of 1231 E. 33rd St., died of cancer Thursday at home.  Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hamilton''s Funeral Home.  Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mrs. Wheeler was born in Oil City, Pa., and had also lived in Ohio and Arizona.  She had lived in Des Moines for 52 years, where she worked as an optical lens grinder and had been co-owner of M & J Enterprises.  She retired in 1987.

She was a member of Unity Lutheran Church, Za-Ga-Zig Ladies Children''''s Hospital Auxiliary, Za-Ga-Zig Provost Guard, and Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include her husband, Jim; two daughters, Linda McGraw of Syracuse, N.Y., and Ruth Knapp of Adel; a son, Rex Wheeler of Urbandale; a brother, Richard Books of San Gabriel, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
