The Life of KENNETH DEAN VOS

Dean Vos, 74, passed away July 10, 2003 at home of cancer after a brief illness. Services will be held at Hamilton's Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 15 at 11 a.m. with burial in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery in Des Moines. Dean was born February 16, 1929 in Runnells, IA to Marvin Samuel Vos and Rena Violet Winegar. He married Mary Jane Riddle on July 4, 1948 and worked at Kent Feeds in Altoona until retirement in 1986. He was a long-time member of the Independent Order of Foresters-retiring from their governing board this past year. After retirement, he delivered lunches to the senior citizens on Wednesdays and helped Art Churchill on his farm. He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin; two grandsons, Timothy Neatherry and KD Vos; one brother, Ralph; one sister, Judy and son-in-law, Bob Neathererry. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary of the home; one son, Sam Vos of Mitchellville; two daughters, Haroldine Neatherry of Lowell, AR and Betty Jo Hobbs of Mitchellville. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Becky, Christina, Sherry, Jackie, Bill, Nick, James and Jessica; great-grandchildren, Bradley, Emily, Taylor, Morgan and Sydney; his mother, Rena; one brother, Jim Vos; two sisters, Gerri Tuller and Betty Butler. He leaves behind a host of in-laws; nieces; nephews and life-long friends. He will be greatly missed by everylone. Visitation will be Monday, July 14 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hamilton's Funeral Home.
