The Life of MARION EDWARD STRAIT JR.

Marion E. "Brick" Strait, Jr., 92, died Monday, February 2, 2004 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital.  Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, February 8 at Grandview Park Funeral Home followed by cremation.  Burial will be at a later date in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Marion was a lifelong resident of Des Moines and served in the US Navy during WWII.  He owned Strait Pinball Co. before opening Strait Pharmacy on E 33rd Street.  After retirement, Brick worked in the maintenance department of the Des Moines Public Schools.  He was a member of Unity Lutheran Church, Masonic Home Lodge and Za Ga Zig Shrine.  Brick won multiple State Championships for skeet shooting and was an avid fisherman.

He is survived by his wife, Leone Strait; sons, Ralph and Jim Strait, all of Des Moines; sister, Ruby Neville; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Unity Lutheran Church.
