The Life of RICHARD DALE SMITH
Richard Dale Smith, 50, of 2821 E. Thirty-eighth Ct. died of lung cancer Sunday at Mercy Hospital Medical Center. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with burial at Highland Memory Gardens. Mr. Smith was a lifelong resident of Des Moines. He was a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, American Legion Post No. 374 and the Dowling Club. He was also a Marine veteran of the Korean War. Survivors include his wife, Jacqueline; three sons, Gary, Charles and Stephen, all of Des Moines; two daughters, Lynn Smith and Jeanine Leiting, both of Des Moines; his mother, Mabel Smith of Mount Ayr; and two brothers, Donald of Mount Ayr and Harold of Des Moines.
