The Life of CHARLES EMORY VAN GILDER
Charles E. VanGilder, 95, of Granger died of a heart ailment Saturday at CLC-Granger. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Assumption Catholic Church there, of which he was a member. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery in Des Moines.
Mr. VanGilder was born in Des Moines and was a lifelong resident of the Des Moines area, moving to Granger in 1990. He retired as a flooring installer at Louie''s Floor Covering. He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking.
He is survived by a daughter, Peggy McClemons of Oswego, NY; nine grandchildren; and several great-granchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Harriet VanGilder.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hamilton''s Near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home, where a vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to All Saints Catholic Church or Assumption Catholic Church.
