The Life of DAMON EVERETT SHERWOOD

Damon Everett Sherwood, 81, of 1616 Hull Ave. died of a heart ailment Tuesday at home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hamilton''s Near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home, with burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Sherwood was born in Gilmore City and lived in Des Moines most of his life. He was a retired bus driver with the Metropolitan Transit Authority and was a member of Acanthus Masonic Lodge, Transit Employees Union and Union Park United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Alice; a son, John of Humeston; a daughter, Diane Eastman of Ankeny; three sisters, Mickey Reames of Des Moines, Sally Rash of Eugene, Ore., and Ann Milburn of Jacksonville, Fla.; a brother, Bernard of Brunswick, Ga.; five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Friends may call after 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 5 to 8 p.m. and where a Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Heart Center.
