The Life of MAURICE E NELSON

Maurice E. Nelson, 86, of the 400 block of Southeast Delaware Avenue, Ankeny, died of a respiratory ailment Tuesday at Union Park Heath Services. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hamilton's Near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home, with burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Nelson had lived in Des Moines all his life before moving to Ankeny in 1990. He was a retired store room supervisor with Iowa Power and Light Co., a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Union Park Baptist Church, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 499, Masons and Za-Ga-Zig Shrine. He enjoyed trains adn fishing. He is survived by his wife, Helene; two sons, Gary of Canon City, CO; and Paul of Ankeny; a daughter, Suzanne Dullard of Des Moines; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to his church's discipleship program.
