The Life of HOWARD BOYD DUKELOW

Memorial services for the Rev. Howard Boyd Dukelow, who died on Monday, December 4, 2006, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 9, 2006 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Beaver and Franklin in Des Moines, Iowa. Howard was born on March 13, 1919 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the son of John Dukelow and Ida McCullough Dukelow. On September 11, 1941 he and Ruth Lillian Olson were married and together they reared four daughters. Howard was an ordained Presbyterian minister and a graduate of the University of Dubuque and the Dubuque Theological Seminary. He and Ruth served congregations in Glen Ullin and Cando, North Dakota; Potosi, Wisconsin; and in Tipton, Missouri Valley, Des Moines, Battle Creek, Greene and Waterloo, Iowa. Howard and Ruth retired to Des Moines in 1990 and have lived at Calvin Community for the past six years. Howard is survived by Ruth, his loving wife of 65 years, and his daughters: Kathleen Dukelow of Urbandale, Helen Gronewold (Keith) of Eustis, Nebraska, Mary Rhoton (John) of Park Ridge, Illinois, and Margaret Van Houten (Douglas Churchill) of West Des Moines. His nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren each brought him great joy. Howard was also survived by his brother, Owen Dukelow of Bloomington, Minnesota and was preceded in death by his brothers, William Dukelow and Burton Dukelow and his sister, Beatrice Venta. Memorial contributions may be made to the Calvin Community Good Samaritan Fund or to Westminster Presbyterian Church. The family has entrusted Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens with arrangements.
