The Life of EDWARD LAVERNE MCFADDEN SR.

Edward Laverne McFadden Sr., 75, of the 5500 block of Northeast Sixth St. died of a respiratory ailment Sunday at home. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Hamilton''s Funeral Home, with burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. McFadden had lived in Des Moines all his life. He had been a heavy equipment operator with McAnich Co. and an Army veteran of World War II. He enjoyed fishing. He is survived by three daughters, Laura Kemmerer of Des Moines, Rhonda Evenbly of Apple Valley, CA, and Carla McFadden of Davenport; three stepsons, Dennis and Jerry Nissen, both of Des Moines, and Rocky Nissen of St. Louis; two stepdaughters, Carol Nissen of Des Moines and Dixie Nissen of Pleasantville; a brother Bernard of California; 18 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his long-time companion, Barbara Nissen. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to American Red Cross or Hospice of Central Iowa.
